Materials
- Crochet Hook – Size 3.50mm & 4.50mm/6.50mm
- 1 or more Different Colours Wool/Cotton Yarn 8ply (I chose 3 different colours in Wool)
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
Granny Square Star Blanket
Starting with Hook Size 4.50mm/6.50mm
Double Clusters – For each of the 5 Corners, [3 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC]
Singles Clusters – For each of the chain spaces between each corner, [CH1, 3DC, CH1]
Round 1 – CH2, Working into the 2nd Chain from the hook, [3 DC, CH 2] repeat 4 more times (5 Clusters in total), SL ST into the top of the very First DC to join the round
Can change colours as often as you like, if changing colour, attach yarn in a chain space from the previous round. If not changing colour SL ST along to the next chain space.
Round 2 – Into first Chain Space, CH 2 (Counts as First DC), 2 DC, CH2, 3DC, *CH1 this is the first corner, into the next Chain Space [work a Double Cluster, CH 1], repeat until there are 5 Double Clusters making 5 Corners. SL ST into the First DC of the round to join the round.
Round 3 – Into first Corner Chain Space, CH 2 (Counts as First DC), 2 DC, CH2, 3DC, CH1, into the next Chain Space work a Single Cluster, *into the next corner Chain Space work a Double Cluster into the next Chain Space work a Single Cluster*, repeat from ** 3 more times. SL ST into the First DC of the round to join the round. There should 1 Single Cluster [CH1, 3DC, CH1] between each of the 5 Corners.
Round 4 – Round 9 (Or as many rounds as you desire), repeat round 3 changing colours any round you like. Each round will have an extra Single Cluster between each of the 5 Corners
Round 4 – 2 Single Clusters between each Corner
Round 5 – 3 Single Clusters between each Corner
Round 6 – 4 Single Clusters between each Corner
Round 7 – 5 Single Clusters between each Corner
Round 8 – 6 Single Clusters between each Corner
Round 9 – 7 Single Clusters between each Corner
IMPORTANT – Each of the 5 Corner Spaces must have a Double Cluster for each round or the pattern will muck up.
TRIM – SC into every stitch around the edge of the blanket, adding 2SC in each of the corner Chain Spaces and and 1SC in each of the Chain Spaces between each Corner. SL ST into the First SC of the round to join the round.
