Materials
- Crochet Hook – Size 3.50mm
- Hippo Coloured Wool/Cotton Yarn 8ply (Any Colour you like)
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
Hippo Arms x2
Starting with Hook Size 3.50mm, using yarn colour for the Hippo
Create a Slip Knot, leaving a Tail of Yarn for weaving in, Chain 2
Round 1 – Working into the 2nd Chain from the hook, 6 SC (6SC)
Round 2 – 1 SC into the next 2 stitches, 2 SC into the next stitch, repeat around (8ST)
Round 3 – 4 (2 rounds in total) – 1 SC into every stitch around (8ST)
Round 5 – 1 SC into the next 2 stitches, SC DEC repeat around (6ST)
Round 6 – Round 11 (7 rounds in total) – 1 SC into around (6ST)
Round 8 – 12 (5 rounds in total) – 1 SC into every stitch around (6)
FO – Leaving a tail of yarn for attaching to the blanket
Flower
Starting with Hook Size 3.50mm and the middle of the flower coloured yarn
Create a Slip Knot, leaving a long tail of yarn for attaching to Hippo Head, Chain 2
Round 1 – Working into the 2nd Chain from the hook, 5 HDC (work as many HDC for how many petals you would like) (5HDC)
Change to main flower colour yarn
Round 2: Petals – Into the next stitch, work a [SL ST, CH 3, 4 or 5 Trebles, CH 3, SL], repeat around until all the Petals are completed.
FO – Weave in ends and trim, leave the centre tail of yarn for attaching to the Hippo Head
