Materials
- Crochet Hook – Size 3.00mm or 3.50mm
- Wool or Cotton Yarn 8ply in Green, Black & White
- Hobby Fill
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
Head
Starting with green yarn
Create a Slip Knot and CH 4
Round 1 – 2 SC into the 2nd CH from the hook, 1 SC into the next chain, 4 SC into the last stitch and now turn work so you are working into the stitches underneath the chain to make an oval shape, 1 SC into the next chain, 2 SC into the last stitch (10ST)
Round 2 – Round 4 (3 rounds in total) – SC into every stitch around (10ST)
At this point I take the tail of yarn from the start, weave it in and trim
Round 5 – 2 SC into the first stitch, 1 SC into the next 4 stitches, repeat around (12ST)
Round 6 – 2 SC into the first stitch, 1 SC into the next stitch, repeat around (18ST)
Round 7 – 9 (3 rounds in total) – SC into every stitch around (18ST)
At this point I embroider the eyes using black yarn and white (for the catch lights in the eyes). The eyes between row 5 & 6, approx. 3 stitches a part. I use double yarn for embroidering features.
Round 10 – SC DEC, SC in the next stitch, repeat around. Crochet around the ears as you go (12ST)
Now fill the Head with Hobby Fill.
Round 11 – SC DEC in every ST around, SL ST into first ST (6ST)FO – Cut yarn leaving a tail and sew up the gap & weave in end
