Tail
Starting with Green Yarn
Create a Slip Knot leaving a tail of yarn and CH 2
Round 1 – 4 SC into the 2nd CH from the hook and pull tight, continue to crochet in rounds
Round 2 – 2 SC into the first stitch, 1 SC into the next stitch, repeat around (6ST)
At this point I take the tail of yarn from the start, weave it in and trim
Round 3 – 2 SC into the first stitch, 1 SC into the next 2 stitches, repeat around (8ST)
Round 4 to Round 6 (3 rounds in total) – SC into every stitch around (8ST)
FO – Cut yarn, leaving a long enough tail to attach the Body. Attach the tail to the body.
Spikes
Starting with green yarn. The spikes go on the tail and the back of the body.
Attach yarn near the neck at the back of the body but leave room to make two rows of spikes
*CH 2, HDC into the body, SL ST into the next stitch on the body, CH 2, HDC into the next stitch on the body, SL ST into the next stitch on the body,* repeat * * til the end of the tail
Once you get to the bottom of the tail, turn and repeat * * on the other side of the tail and back of the body heading back towards the neck. It should create two rows of little bumps that look like spikes for the Croc.
FO – Cut yarn and weave in ends
Arms/Legsx2
Starting with green yarn
Counting from the bottom, attach yarn for the first arm in row 5 or 6 to the body (attach slightly to the side of the body).
Attach yarn for second arm in row 3 or 4 (counting from the bottom in line with the first arm)
Chain 5, Skip 4 ST (in front of the pencil topper) and attach into the 5th stitch, turn and SC 8 stitches around the chain, SC into the body at the same place that the arm/leg was started.
FO – Cut yarn leaving a tail and sew up the gap & weave in end (please note, the number of chains and single crochet used for the arms/legs, may need to be adjusted depending on your hook size and the size pencil you would like the pencil topper to fit. The arms/legs will stretch with use so a snug fit on the pencil is best).
